Leadership advice and training services

FESSN provides Leaders coaching for wellbeing or mental health issues within team members. This can assist in developing strategies and confidence to tackle the more challenging people management situations, especially those involving emotional responses and well-being.
Coaching and consultation with management

Critical Incident Response and Management
Critical incident response and management (CIRM) provides essential services and management to support the well-being of individuals who are directly or indirectly exposed to a critical incident (CI).
CIRM aims to reduce and/or mitigate the negative impacts when exposed to a traumatic event, providing recovery support and strategies to help build personal resilience and reduce post-event trauma.
Peer Support
Peer Support Officers (PSOs) are an integral part of the Fire and Emergency Services Support Network (FESSN). PSOs are staff and volunteers who, in a voluntary capacity, are trained to assist and support their colleagues through challenging times.
PSOs work in conjunction with FESSN, Regional Supervision Counsellors and fellow PSOs to provide confidential, informal short-term assistance, support or guidance. If needed, this can include referrals to appropriate community resources or other specialist services.

Fire Wardens
Fire Wardens play an important role in their community. They help manage the land before fires start, which can reduce how often and how severe wildfires can be.
In rural Queensland, the volunteer Fire Warden network administers the Permit to Light Fire system and provides advice to landholders on managing fire risk. If you live in an urban or rural fringe community, the Fire Warden could be your local fire station.
The Fire Warden’s role includes:
