When the weather is very hot, dry, and windy, fires can easily get out of control. On these days, QFD might declare a local Fire Ban or a State of Fire Emergency.  

Local fire bans can be declared for all or part of a local council area and will apply for a set timeframe.

A State of Fire Emergency can be declared for all or part of Queensland and will be in force until cancelled.  

When a fire ban is declared all permits are automatically cancelled and all open fires are banned.  

Any time you are going to light a fire in Queensland (including camp or backyard fires) you must check if there is a fire ban.
