In partnership with local councils and the Department of Environment and Science, we have developed the state-wide Storm Tide Evacuation Zone Web Application for the Queensland coastline. This web application identifies evacuation zones in the event of a storm tide, to support community messaging and risk-informed planning.

Please remember in the event of a storm tide, listen to your local radio station for information, warnings and advice. If you are unable to evacuate in time, please seek shelter in the upper storey of a sturdy brick or concrete building.

This interactive web application allows you to explore the storm tide evacuation zones for Queensland. Use the tabs located on the left of the screen (on the map) to view all Storm Tide information, including how to prepare a visual example of Storm Tide, map layers, legend and definitions.

Use the  bar located in the top right of the map to search for an address or location. If your device has location services enabled, click on the 'my location' button below the search bar to find your location.

Use the  button in the top right of the map to change the basemap.

On a mobile device, you can navigate past the maps using the far left and right edges of the screen.

Assumptions and limitations

Information displayed within the Storm Tide Evacuation Zones web application has been provided by external Queensland Councils in combination with us. While we make every effort to provide quality information, we make no warranty or guarantee, and assumes no legal liability for, or responsibility, as to the content, accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of any information provided. The intent of this information is to raise awareness to the Queensland public of potential storm tide effects across the State and should only be used as an indicative potential as each situation involving storm tide can vary depending on the total level of seawater in combination with tide levels. Storm tides are very sensitive to the characteristics of cyclone, troughs and tsunami, making them difficult to accurately predict.
