Comet – rubbish fire as at 8.40am Mon 22 July

Queensland Fire Department (QFD) is aware of a rubbish fire burning on Lochlees Rd, Comet. 

Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR) and Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) crews attended the incident earlier this evening and contained the fire. Crews left the property in the hands of Central Highlands Regional Council who will continue to monitor the fire overnight. QFD crews will reattend if required.  

The fire continues to produce a large amount of smoke, which may affect the township of Emerald and surrounding areas over the coming hours. 

Nearby residents should close windows and doors, and keep respiratory medications close by if required. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.
