Elgin Vale and Cloyna (North Coast Region) - vegetation fires (as at 3.15pm)

Elgin Vale (west of Gympie) - vegetation fire as at 3.15pm
Firefighters have contained a grass fire burning at Manumbar Road, Elgin Vale (west of Gympie) which was sparked from a lightning strike yesterday. Crews will remain on scene overnight patrolling and monitoring the fire. Residents experiencing smoke in their area are advised to keep doors and windows closed and medications close by if they suffer from a respiratory condition. Motorists are also urged to drive with caution.

Cloyna (north of Murgon) - vegetation fire as at 3.15pm
Seven fire crews remain at the scene of a grass fire burning in remote country near Cobbs Hill Road, Cloyna (north of Murgon), which was sparked from a lightning strike yesterday. Firefighters are continuing to establish containment lines this afternoon. The fire is not under control at this time however there is no threat to property. An aircraft is on scene assisting crews. An incident control centre has been established at the Murgon Fire Station and local residents with questions can speak with a member of the incident management team at the station. Residents experiencing smoke in their area are advised to keep doors and windows closed and medications close by if they suffer from a respiratory condition. Motorists are also urged to drive with caution.
