Overview

Over 6,000 building fire alarm systems across Queensland are currently connected to the QFRS alarm monitoring service, FireNET.

Section E of the Building Code of Australia prescribes which buildings (by types and/or usage) are required to have their fire alarm system monitored by the QFRS FireNET. Other building owners who are not required by legislation to connect their alarm for monitoring choose to do so to assure the highest level of building and occupant safety.

As part of its monitoring service and annual fee, the QFRS provide to buildings a ‘Protected Premise Unit’ (PPU) that enables the communication between building fire alarm panels and the QFRS FireNET. Buildings are also required to connect the PPU to FireNET via a Telstra Voice Grade Digital Line (VGDL).

If you would like more information about a current connection or connecting your building’s fire alarm system to FireNET please click here to complete the contact form. Alternatively, please call our Communication Service Centre on 1800 449 992 between 9am and 5pm (AEST) Monday to Friday.
